ABOUT SUNSET RIDGE STABLES
Sunset Ridge Stables is located 2½ miles North of Caledonia, IL on 165 acres. Owner Pam Berkenpas offers training, instruction and a quality horse boarding facility. There are on property equestrian trails leading to Roland Olson Forest Preserve one mile to the west and Kinnikinnick Creek Conservation Area a half mile to the North, as well as riding areas all throughout the property.
Main Barn
Oversized 12 x 12 stalls with rubber mats and overhead fans, most stalls have windows. We use premium flake shavings and stalls are cleaned daily.
Main barn is HEATED and has attached 80 X 160 indoor arena. Dust free with superior footing and has windows for lots of natural sunlight. Oversized outdoor arena 120 x 280 also has great footing and is open year round.
We make our own hay so it is dust and mold free,several types of hay to choose from based on your horses needs. Strategy Healthy Edge is fed twice daily to horses in stalls.
Main barn also has a tack room, bathroom, kitchen area, viewing room, washrack with hot and cold water, nice wide aisleways.
Riding
Sunset Ridge welcomes riders of all disciplines. We have jumps available as well as an indoor and outdoor arena. Centered between Roland Olson Horse Park and Kinnikinnick Forest Preserve our boarders have direct access to state maintained horse trails. No need to trailer your horse just hop on and go! We DO NOT offer trail rides and lessons are for boarders and their families only.
Turn out
The number of horses boarded at SRS is limited to 20 so your horse receives individual care and attention. We have over 25 acres of grass pasture with large run in sheds and heated self fillilng water tanks. Horses have plenty of room to run and eat, they are not crammed together in dry lots. We also have a small pasture for horses with metabolic issues.

Owner Pam Berkenpas lives on the premises and has over 45 years experience caring for horses. Tired of constant turn over of barn managers and help? You don't need to worry at Sunset Ridge. We have been owner managed for over 33 years.
Sunset Ridge
SRS has an electronic privacy gate so your horse, trailer and valuables are safe and secure. We are a drama free barn with wondeful boarders. Lessons and training are offered for boarders and their families only. Call or text (815) 262-5570 to schedule a barn tour or receive further information. Barn tours are by appointment only.
